Retired Old Men Eating Out

ROMEO Experience Directly From Members

Lew writes: I lead a ROMEO group of 16 retired male scientists in Falmouth on Cape
Cod. We eat out weekly from June to October and meet on Zoom weekly the rest of the
year since many of our members live elsewhere in the colder months. Besides having
fun, eating together, and talking about everything from our families and aging to current
events, we support and educate each other on our areas of expertise and interest, and
host local experts and leaders to speak with us. We range in age from 73 to 104. And
we pool our donations to support groups, issues, and social needs. The group has
existed for close to three decades.
Frank from Hartford CT Romeo Club: I spend a lot of time at our library reading papers
and getting books to take home. I have a Coffee Mug with “I never thought at this age I
would be a Romeo, but here I am in the club.” The Library has free coffee in the
reading room, and I have never been there with my cup without getting a conversation
started, men and women alike. I live alone, so it is great to have a conversation starter.
I have never had a bad comment.
Gary from California: We had our first lunch and it was a huge success. ROMEO San
Clementa is now official. Please list me as the contact person in case anyone wants to
find us.

About Us

So, what do ROMEO Clubs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) do? They eat out, have fun, make and keep friends, and are not bound by rules, that is no causes, no specific membership restrictions except Retired “Old” Men Eating Out. It could be breakfast, lunch, dinner, once a week, or once a month, whatever works for a specific group. Some are composed of people with similar interests or similar past professions, but most reflect the great mosaic that is the retired men’s community. Some have outside folks come in and talk or educate while others simply let the conversation flow.
